Date Before You Marry: The Mixer

The Date Before You Marry (DBYM) Mixer is your chance to move past the resume and see if the chemistry is real. Whether you’re a founder looking for your "other half" or a talented professional seeking your next big mission, this event is designed to bridge the gap between "nice to meet you" and "let’s build this." The DBYM process is a hands-on way to test-drive teamwork. Founders post short-term projects with clear deliverables, and applicants apply to tackle them. It’s a low-risk, high-reward trial run to see if your work styles, communication rhythms, and goals truly align before you make things official.

Problem of the Month: Empathy & Ideation

In this session, we’ll shift from framing the problem to understanding the people connected to it. Through guided exercises and small-group conversations, you’ll explore how different individuals experience the problem — their motivations, constraints, and unmet needs. As a reminder, this month we’re focusing on fostering campus sustainability. Using those insights, you’ll work collaboratively to generate ideas for possible solutions. The emphasis is on range and creativity, not polish or feasibility. This is a space to think expansively, test assumptions, and build on one another’s ideas without pressure to be “right."

Dr. Rebecca Taub will provide expert insight into the considerable, critical, challenges faced by MASH therapeutic and biomarker developers based on her experience founding Madrigal Pharmaceuticals and guiding resmetirom (REZDIFFRA) through the Accelerated Approval process.

Problem of the Month: Framing the Problem

In this first session of the Problem of the Month series, we’ll focus on problem framing — the skill of understanding a problem space before jumping to solutions. Working in small groups, you’ll explore the theme through conversation and structured prompts designed to surface what’s actually going on beneath the surface. This month we’re focusing on fostering campus sustainability. Rather than trying to “solve” the problem right away, you’ll map different facets of the problem space and notice which angles energize you most. Many participants leave with a clearer sense of which part of the problem feels worth spending time on — and which doesn’t.

USA & Europe: How can we win together?

Join us for a lively discussion on US / Europe collaboration, featuring distinguished guest, Magnus Brunner, the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration Location: Home Room, International House, UC Berkeley

International Founder Roadmap: F-1, CPT/OPT & Beyond

Building a company is hard. Building one while navigating U.S. immigration is a whole different game. Whether you’re currently in classes, on OPT, or eyeing a post-grad transition, the legal "gray areas" of entrepreneurship can be a major roadblock. In partnership with the Berkeley Haas Venture Capital Club, join us for a conversation with UC Berkeley Law Professor & Immigration Lawyer, Marc Santamaria, to understand how to build your startup without compromising your status.

LAUNCH-A-THON

Launchathon is a two-day event where startup teams that are a part of the UC LAUNCH Accelerator Program work on a project of their choice to solve their most pressing business needs. For example, a startup may decide to work on their software product, develop a business/marketing plan, or make promotional assets. We are looking for talent across Berkeley to help these startup teams solve their business challenges. If you are interested in participating in Launchathon and providing your expertise to help a startup team, please fill out this Google survey. It will help us match you to a startup team that needs your skills and experience (e.g., startup team seeking Berkeley designers or developers). Launchathon will be held on Saturday, April 4th & Sunday, April 5th, 2026 (Berkeley Haas, Room N100). You will be expected to attend both days and stayed engaged if you sign up.

Outside Your Comfort Zone

Outside Your Comfort Zone (OYCZ) is a Thursday Night practice focused on doing small, intentional things that feel uncomfortable — and learning from them. Entrepreneurship (and life) regularly ask us to speak up, try before we’re ready, approach uncertainty, and risk being wrong. The good news is: acting through discomfort is a skill you can practice. During this session, you’ll take part in a series of low-stakes exercises designed to gently stretch your comfort zone in the company of others doing the same. The goal isn’t to impress or push past your limits — it’s to notice what discomfort feels like, practice staying present, and build confidence through repetition.

SCET Decal Workshop

If you are a student interested in leading an SCET Decal, this workshop provides mandatory information to prepare students of what SCET is looking for when evaluating decal proposals, and support the creation of proposals for SCET.

Problem of the Month: From Ideas to Experiments

In the final session of the series, we’ll focus on rapid prototyping and testing — turning rough ideas into simple experiments that help you learn what works, what doesn’t, and what needs refining. As a reminder, this month we’re focusing on improving learning and focus. Working in small groups, you’ll choose one or two promising ideas and create lightweight prototypes to explore how people might respond. The goal is not to build something perfect, but to practice learning quickly through action. This session is ideal if you want experience moving from ideas to evidence, or if you’re curious how small tests can create clarity without requiring long-term commitment. You can join whether or not you attended earlier sessions — the focus is on practicing the skill of testing ideas in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

Ship, Then Lead: The Engineer's Path to CEO

Most CEO advice is written for MBAs. But in AI-era startups, the technical CEO is no longer the exception: it's becoming the expectation. Join Arpan Bhattacharya, founder of The Intelligent Search Company, and Lorenzo Barberis Canonico for a conversation about what actually changes when you go from engineer to CEO, and what you should never stop doing!
