Commercialization

Office of Technology Licensing

The Office of Technology Licensing (OTL) is one of the two divisions of UC Berkeley's Office of Intellectual Property and Industry Research Alliances (IPIRA). It works to commercialize Berkeley innovations through licensing and contractual agreements that reward inventors, and helps with invention disclosures, patenting, licensing and other aspects of commercializing patentable inventions or copyrightable software developed on campus.

More than 770 products and 300 startup companies have come from technology OTL has licensed. It publishes guides for inventors on the tech transfer process and timelines, and lists available technologies for companies to license.
