Berkeley Institute for Data Science

The Berkeley Institute for Data Science (BIDS) is a central hub at UC Berkeley for data-intensive research, open source software and data science training. Since its launch in 2013, it has brought together domain experts from the life, social and physical sciences with methods experts from computer science, statistics and applied mathematics.

BIDS supports research by faculty, staff, postdocs and students, contributes to open source and open science communities through efforts such as its Open Source Program Office, and runs training programs. It is part of UC Berkeley's College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS).
